Third Crossing Bridge nearly three-quarters complete

Last month, we reported on the progress being made on the Third Crossing Bridge, a $180 million project being handled by Kiewet.

Further progress this fall now has the bridge over 70 per cent complete, and plans are progressing to name both the bridge and the west shore intersection work.

Last year, Kingston City Council opted to give the bridge a name that reflects and celebrates the contributions of regional Indigenous communities from the past and present.

They have now narrowed the choices down to a shortlist, which you can see in the video below.

As for the project, much of the focus of the work is now on top of the bridge deck. Workers have been laying concrete panels and reinforced steel and then pouring the concrete deck. In 2022, water proofing and asphalt work will begin.

Meanwhile, final designs for the connections to the bridge from the west shore of the Cataraqui River are now available.
